Besides aesthetics, the stand’s functionality is crucial. What activities must take place on the exhibition floor? Do you want to engage in casual conversations over food and drinks? Then you need a bar or kitchenette built in. Do you want to conduct more formal business meetings? Then a counter and one or more (possibly enclosed) meeting rooms will be necessary. These are just a few basic examples of the kinds of form-and-function questions that Expovorm’s designers (like Lisa) can help you answer.

The Stand Design Process
At Expovorm, everything revolves around creativity and craftsmanship. In our office in Almelo, a team of designers work on creating unique exhibition stands. Curious how we go about it? One of our lead designers Lisa is happy to guide you through the design process of a successful stand.
1 From Idea to Sketch
Together with our client, we assess their desires and practical requirements, in order to create a concept for the ideal stand. Questions asked include: What does the client hope to achieve with their exhibition endavours? Launch a product? Or focus on hospitality?
We also examine practical factors from a specialist’s perspective: the booth’s location in the hall, possible walking flows, and construction constraints such as height limits.
2 From Sketch to Digital Design
All these ideas are developed and initially sketched on paper. With OctaCAD, an advanced Autodesk plugin, we can accurately incorporate our products and materials into the design.
The digital design gives us and our client immediate insight into required materials, time, and costs. The corresponding quote is already detailed — no financial surprises later!
3 Concept Visualization
Once the basic layout and quote are approved, we begin extensive visualizations.
To give our client a clear view of the design, we fully render the stand in 3ds Max. For the graphics—logos, banners, etc.—we use Adobe Illustrator so that everything matches the brand identity.
4 From Concept to Presentation
We add lighting and place the stand in a virtual exhibition hall to simulate how it will look in context. Then we render the stand using Lumion to produce lifelike visuals. If desired, we even create a walk-through video to let the client “move through” the stand.
This presentation is designed to give the client the most realistic view of the final outcome.
5 Client Meeting
When the design is ready, we review the presentation in detail with the client. Should adjustments be made? What can be improved?
Only when everyone is satisfied do we further refine the design in OctaCAD, ensuring we know every detail required for construction.
6 From Drawing to Realization
The final step is turning the design into detailed technical drawings. Thanks to these technical drawings, our team in the warehouse, workshop, and on the exhibition floor knows precisely what is needed to make the vision a reality.
